An overview on viewing DBS Certificates online.

Viewing Certificates

When filling in the Verifile screening form, candidates will be asked if they wish to give consent to their employer accessing an electronic certificate. This is optional, but you may wish to encourage your candidates to give consent for this.

You must register with the DBS to access electronic certificates. Please refer to our guide, Create a DBS Online Account for help with this process.

View Certificates with Auto Consent

1. After logging in to your DBS account, click the ‘Consented products’ link from the ‘Services’ menu.

If consent is revoked, the system will remove the certificate details from the ‘View certificate status’ screen.

If you wish to see the certificate, you will need to ask your candidate to re-give consent.

A guide to assist candidates with re-giving consent can be found here Candidate - Grant consent to access DBS Certificate.

View Certificates with Standalone Consent

If a candidate grants you standalone consent to view their DBS basic certificate online, they will provide you with a consent code. Please note that this process is outside of the Verifile process.

To view a completed certificate where standalone consent has been granted and remains valid:

1. Click the ‘View DBS certificate’ link from the ‘Services’ menu.

2. Complete the mandatory fields and click the green ‘View’ button.

Note: The consent code is valid for onetime access only. A new consent code will need to be generated by the certificate’s subject for each subsequent time the certificate is to be viewed.
