Does my candidate receive a paper certificate when completing the digital DBS check?

In this article, we will advise whether your candidate will receive a DBS certificate after the digital DBS check is completed.

What's A Digital DBS Check?

Please note a Digital DBS check is an Identity check used by clients who cannot confirm their candidate's Identity Documents in person. When checked and given a green status, this will allow the DBS application to be automatically sent to the DBS for processing.

What Digital DBS Checks Are Available?

At Verifile, we offer Digital Identity checks according to the DBS level you require for your candidate. See below for the Criminal Record check levels and the Digital identity check associated with these checks.

UK Criminal Record (Basic England & Wales) - UK Digital Identity Check (Basic)

UK Criminal Record (Standard England & Wales) - UK Digital Identity Check (Standard)

UK Criminal Record (Enhanced England & Wales) - UK Digital Identity Check (Enhanced)

Please note there are no UK Digital Identity checks for Disclosure Scotland criminal record checks

Will My Candidate Receive A Certificate?

This depends on the level of check being processed. Once a Standard and Enhanced UK Digital Identity Check is processed. This will prompt for the corresponding DBS criminal record check to begin processing.

Please note Standard and Enhance DBS checks automatically issues the certificate to the Candidate.

However when a Basic UK Digital Identity Check is completed with a Green Status. It will prompt for the Basic UK Criminal Record check to begin processing.

Please note the difference is; for a Basic Criminal Record check, the candidate has to ensure when completing the online screening form, they opt in for the certificate to be sent to them.

If they do not opt in to receive the certificate when doing a Basic UK Criminal Record check, they will not receive a physical certificate.
