This article guides clients to the documentation which can help candidates to provide access to employers to view their DBS certificate.
This article is not intended for candidates to view directly.
There is a version available on the external Candidate Help Portal.
The step-by-step guide is enclosed. Otherwise, please read the steps below.
Candidates can provide access to employers to their DBS certificate in 2 ways.
1. When filling the Verifile Screening form, the system will ask if candidates wish to give consent to their employer and Verifile accessing the DBS certificate, such as in the picture below.

If they provide their consent by clicking the option as shown above, the employer can view the DBS certificate online through DBS's own website. ** For Basic/Level 1 DBS check only**
2. For Standard/Level 2 and Enhanced/Level 2 with Barred List DBS checks, DBS sends the original paper certificate directly to the applicant's current address through post.
Once they have received this, they can provide this to their employer. **
They can also allow your employer access to view your certificate online. Please click on the below link for guidance: Layout 1 (publishing.service.gov.uk).

** If a candidate does not receive the DBS certificate via post within 14 days from when it was dispatched, they can request a reprint from DBS using the certificate number. They can contact Verifile to obtain the DBS certificate number to contact DBS.
