Why has the U.K. Right to Work Audit I ordered received an amber traffic light?

An audit check is when Verifile will audit the original document seen by you that has been provided to us by yourselves from your records in relation to their right-to-work check.

Once we've audited this document, we'll provide a traffic light.

  • If the traffic light is green, this means the candidate holds the right to work and you have a statutory excuse.

  • If the traffic light is amber, this then needs to be reviewed by yourselves.

The statutory excuse is held, but a recheck/renewal is needed within 12 months or sooner. This is because the candidate may currently have a valid right-to-work document, but this is due to expire within the next 12 months. After this expires, you will no longer have statutory excuse.

  • If the traffic light is red, then statutory excuse is not held.

As this is an audit, the traffic light reflects the documents held on file at the time of the audit.

Verifile will not change the traffic light outcome based on further documents which you collect. It is also unnecessary for you to provide copies of the additional documents which you have collected.

If you have collected these documents, you can add them to the employee file, but the check will not be re-run using these documents. You may also wish to note on the Verifile final report copy you hold, that you have collected these documents. Should you then be audited, you can show these documents.
